Women’s role in Sacred Defense evident

URMIA -- Women’s role and gallantry in the eight-year imposed war, can never be ignored, Colonel Mohammad Dadkhah, an official in the western Iranian border city of Bukan, Kordestan Province, said recently.

Women alongside their male counterparts participated a great deal and played an active role on the home front during the Iran-Iraq imposed war, he made the remarks at the commemoration ceremony of women martyrs of the Sacred Defense.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is deeply indebted its sovereignty and glory to the eight-year dedication and devotion of its military forces, he told a great number of female Basijis (volunteer forces) attended the ceremony.

The Iraqi-imposed war against Iran was the only long-term battle in recent centuries in which the proud people of Iran did not lost any part of the country.

The Iranian nation emerged victorious from the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, despite the fact that both the Eastern and Western powers backed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
